Fruit pies or tarts (pasties) where probably first made in the 1500s. English tradition credits making the first cherry pie to Queen Elizabeth I.
Fruitcakes have been holiday and wedding cakes which have a very heavy fruit content. The name “fruitcake” can be traced back only as far as the Middle Ages. It is formed from a combination of the Latin fructus, and French frui or frug.

Sacrebleu Wine Pie from Sedona Pies
They have an image problem. Why? Because most pies are so full of chemicals that whenever I have picked up a pie from the store shelf, all you just need to do is read the ingredient list (I read all ingredient lists). It amazes me why bakeries or manufacturers’ need to put all that crap in the pies. What’s with that?
